He bugged us to death while there but gone we missed him.

"Spaced Out" or Martin Collier was ugly but nice. We didn't meet him till about 5 days after sailing. He constantly smoked and was quite liberal. He lives around Washington and does "goodies".

Night Club 12:30 (dancing)

I didn't do all this stuff and swimming is from 8:00am to 5:00pm except in port.

The one thing that wrecked most of our evenings is that no guys, except Peter, would dance. All the girls were too chicken to be the one to dance with Peter (typical).

Our stops were nice but nothing spectacular. We took no tours and usually came out cheaper. only in Pompeii (Naples we got hat for 10,000 Lire (almost $18)).

My favorite place was Athens. We went to the Acropolis and I spent $5 there. I bought 3 purses, and 5 pairs of worry beads. I sold one to Marianne Jansen and gave one to Jessica. Therefore, Allen, I don't know if I'll give you one.

worry beads In Malaga, Spain Simone (my sister) came to meet us. We talked and I bought a souvenir fan.

I forgot Sam Leuckovitch. On the first night he got everyone to dance. I danced with him about 5 or 6 times. He's about 23 yrs. old from Toronto.

We landed in Trieste and Nicolette and Barry were waiting for us there. We talked and Marianne finally got to see Nicolette again.

The Jansen family is well matched for us-Marianne-Nicolette Nico & Koos-Ralph Jessica-me Cita and Saskia have tough luck with the deSmits.

We are now camping in Trieste. Nic & Barry are with us. Tomorrow we bring them to Venice and camp there ourselves.

Trieste is nice but quiet.

I forgot to say this too. On the ship we played the ash game. Ralph dropped first then Keren then Koss then me. Ralph had to kiss Keren. Koss had to kiss me. I didn't expect them to go through with it (like at Allen's) but they did. Another strange but true.

Have a nice summer.

Love Danielle

PS Ralph got a leather drinking (or wine) flask.

PSS Gillian, I started two letters before this one but I didn't finish.

PPSS I'm sending this to Allen cause I didn't think or I don't know of him going somewhere.

[they did bring me back a set of worry beads...]

July 27 Thursday

At 11:30 went to Fairview, met the girl (see July 6, the girl Judy and I talked to on the bus to Fairview) [Janet Stockton]. Sat at the back and talked. Bought sandals [J.C. Waterwalkers]. Met Janet Donaldson, got the bus with her.
