August 26 Sunday
Sunday in the Park, with Larry, Phyl and Mike Sawyer (met Mike McCartney there, which was possibly the last time I saw him). [for Sunday in the Park, Larry (also March 11, 1973) and Mike see below]. Filmed there: to get tokes we filmed people toking...it worked.
August 27 Monday
A party at Andy's, terrific rain storm. His basement drains backed up and the basement flooded.

August 30 Thursday
Went over to Alan's. From there to Dave's. After supper, went to Belmont Park. At 12:30 AM, I left the house again for Alan's. After an hour at Alan's, we went to Andy's. I crashed there. Good time [I have no memory of this at all].

August 31 Friday
Today we woke up and cleaned the house. After that we went to Alan's and smoked. After supper we were at Alan's - stoned.
So, what really happened that summer? Ralph seems to remember that it was quiet, at least in July (as Dave's letter seems to indicate). There seems to have been an increase in activity during August and September. Whatever the exact events may be, the situation was completely different from what it had been at the beginning of the summer, with new places and people...
June-August 1973
"...Do we walk in legends or on the green earth in the daylight?
'A man may do both,' said Aragorn. 'For not we but those who come after will make the legends of our time. The green earth, say you? That is a mighty matter of legend, though you tread it under the light of day!"
-J.R.R. Tolkien
The following events were first set down in 1977, and a more detailed version in 1981.
People began to hang around this place outside the west entrance of Eaton's at Fairview. Because of a drawing on the wall, it was called 'The Stoned Duck' (beginning May or June).
At this time Larry Habel appears. He was living in the woods behind the Fairview Cinema, his favourite drink was 'Four Aces'. How and why he was there I don't know. He appears though Dave (c.June, at least in my recollection. Ralph and Dave seemed to have known him as early as March.[see March 11,1973]).
Through Larry appears Phyl Douce, who lived on Sources in D.D.O. (c.early June).
Larry gave me a stop-watch.
We went to at least two parties at Jane Patterson's near the train station in Beaconsfield. Met Mike McCartney there, smoked what he called opium scraped from an old pipe. I felt sick after [and Lesley told me she was there too (July 1994) ] (c.late June-early July).
