January 14 Sunday

[At 11;30 I called Alan to see what was going on. He said to call Gillian because she had called too. So I called Gillian and we decided to got to Alan's but then she called back to say that we could go over there. So I called Dave and he said he'd be here at 12:30 and I called Alan and said we'd be there at 1pm. In all we were about 15 minutes late. We got to Alan's. His sister's friend was hiding in the closet [?] ]. About 2 Ralph, Dave and I walked to Gillian's, sat in the study. I drew [Dave reading THE HAPPY HOOKER, and all of us taking turns deciding whose records to play]. Jennifer and a girl [Nicola] came over, they played cards [Monty] and 'Careers'. [Abbie came into the room to have a cigarette and Alan made comments like "Something Smells"]. About 5 we went to Pizza Romana in the village [we got there, worked out the money problem, and ordered a $3.75 pizza, and Jennifer had french fries and cokes] and got pizza [after I had finished half of my piece I got a very big piece of cheese caught in my throat and couldn't swallow it. After removing what I still had in my mouth (Jennifer gave me a napkin), I took a dash to the can. I came back and everyone was saying that I should have gone out the front door and left it on the the sidewalk. I tried to eat more of my pizza but I couldn't, and for some reason no one else felt much like eating either. I used the remainder of my pizza for an ashtray and Alan poured coke into it. The waitress asked if all of it went well together. After we left Romano's, Nicola had to phone home and we all crammed the booth, and then wouldn't let Dave and Nicola out [after this initial exposure to all of us, is it any wonder no one ever saw hide nor hair of Nicola again?]. then we went to Black Cat and played pinball [until the guy started yelling at us to be careful with it]. We wrote obscene things in the snow on the street. [Went back to Gillian's] [she agreed with her father and brother], went to the livingroom, read 'National Geographic' [looked at a Pop Art book]. Jennifer and the girl left [at 7 or 8. Dave went into the kitchen to talk to Abbie. I came in and so did Alan. Alan did the "take one" thing with the nutcracker for a clapboard. I went back to the living room and when I came back they were doing a commercial with Dave sitting on Abbie's lap with his arms behind him and Abbie's arms taking their place. I went back to the living room and the others followed. Gillian got mad because Abbie was there. Alan did his robot thing. At 9 we went outside to wait for Dave's father to pick us up. Dave and I climbed a tree.]. Got a ride with Dave at 9:30. [On the way home Dave's father started asking Dave about driving on Saturday. Dave confessed when his father threatened to check the milage on the car].

January 15-17 Monday-Wednesday

Home sick with the London flu.

[January 15-Andy picked me up. Talked about what he did Sat.: night-got stoned at a friend's house and watched "Casanova".....Lunch-Alan is away, sat in the lounge. Mike smoked up me, Dave, Andy & Ruth...During the night I talked to Gillian on the phone about Jennifer liking Alan, her and Dave, and Debbie Darcy liking me. Talked about dates [!] etc

January 16-Lunch: same as yesterday, only 2 [joints] this time. Alan away...After school went to Andy's to borrow Arlo Guthrie's "Hobo Lullaby"

January 17-E, F and G blocks: went to Fairview with Dave. Caught the 12:45 bus to Douglas Shand. Got to Fairview and sat in Harvest House. Christine, Linda and Co. were at 2 other tables. Rusty (Chris's friend) came over. Dave asked about dope and he said that he'd have some coke [?] later. We sat there for about 45 minutes to an hour, balancing the salt and pepper shakers. We went to Brosseau's, Pascal's and Eaton's where Dave bought Santana-Caravanseri. Went back to Harvest House. Rusty [I haven't a clue] sold Dave 3 cokes for $1.50 apiece [haven't a clue about this either-was Dave really buying cocaine? by the piece? or was "coke" some kind of code-insurance against my parents reading my journal, like writing just the letter "j" or referring to "'cid" and assuming they wouldn't understand references to "dropping", "spliffs" and "smoking up"] [most probably he was buying coke splifs] and then some guy came and sat down and so did Chris for awhile. I caught the 2:00 back to school.....
